On a sunny afternoon back in May of 1999, I was on my way to attend my 8th grade prom at Sacred Heart Private School in the Bronx N.Y. The only thing on my mind was that I finally made it and I am going to enjoy my last time with fellow classmates before high school starts! Little did I know that night was going to be life changing!  The moment I walked in, my attention was captivated by the DJ that was performing. Nothing else mattered as I stared into the bright lights hitting the dance floor and felt the music thumping in my chest. I was mesmerized. I walked up to DJ Carlos, introduced myself and told him how cool it all was to me. Next thing you know I told him I wanted to learn and asked if he would he be willing to teach me, He said, "Of course, but you're so young I'd have to call your mother first and see if she would be ok with it" Sure enough, days later my mother consented. Runaway Rhythms hired me as a "roadie" and the gigs started rolling in. Carlos was teaching me the technical and laborious side of the mobile industry. The setups, the breakdowns, the formalities, the music, the lighting  and I was literally absorbing  it all like a sponge.  My mother and grandmother gifted me my very first set of turntables so I went on to practice at home for hours and hours on end. Never got tired, just kept on trying while still working gigs on the weekends. As I started to attend  high school at Fordham Prep in the Bronx, a new opportunity had opened up to me. Robert Moschetta, was a chemistry teacher at my school but was and also still is the Owner of Entertainment and Sounds Unlimited. Rob gave me the opportunity to work for his company giving me the ability to learn different angles from another very experienced high end company that shared the same passion as I did. Years went on working for both companies every weekend, sometimes double events in one day. My talent as a DJ and experience level as an MC had developed quickly and I was now being sent out on my own. The parties were rocking, nothing but compliments on my professionalism and knowledge of music. I took what I had learned from both companies, created my own style that works for me and had built up enough confidence to venture out in the realm of creating a company. It's all history from there on, over 1,000 events in the books, still holding close ties with my former employers and now running a successful mobile DJ entertainment company named "Beyond The Beat Entertainment" The passion of mixing music as a DJ and seeing how happy we can make people feel is something that thrives inside you and will never go away. The passion will always gets stronger when you're in this for all the right reasons.
